Operating force test of switch

Operating force of a switch is measured with a manual test stand in this video. This type of measurement is also called switch feeling test and describes easiness of pressing switches or click feeling in numerical values. By setting Peak Drops(decreasing values) on the force gauge, the force at the moment when the switch gets on is recorded as the first peak value. Displacement value to turn the switch on can be measured using the test stand with displacement input function.

Operating Force Test of Motorcycle’s Brake Lever

Force to operate motorcycle’s brake lever is measured by a dedicated load cell and amplifier. You just mount the load cell on a brake lever, grip them together, then the operating force is indicated. The tested data can be stored in the internal memory of the force gauge. You can also check the stored data directly on the force gauge's display easily. This test is used for inspection, safety evaluation and quality control.

Tactile switch click sensation test

IMADA's force-displacement tester determines click sensation (feeling) of tactile switches. In the video, the tester presses a switch, measuring the resistance force and graphing the measurement. In other words, to determine the click sensation, you need to measure displacement as well as force. Then, the tester graphs force transition with reference to displacement, helping identify the hysteresis (zero reversion). Thus, the force-displacement tester handles various characteristic evaluation other than click sensation of switches. The remarkable thing is that the tester automatically detects contact point of the sample and presses switches by pre-set displacement, which improves repeatability and test-efficiency.
