Torque Test Stand Overview

Torque Test stands are rotating equipment for torque testers. Combined with a torque gage and attachments, it can be used as a simple torque tester to achieve more precise measurements.

Unlike hand-held measurement, they can perform the rotation movement or fix the sample. This reduces shake of manual operation and equalizes the test speed, consequently delivering highly repeatable measurements. Rotating the test object more than 360 degrees or continuous rotating can be easily conducted.

A switch-operated motorized type, a manual type with a knob, or a holder to fix the sensor will meet the various torque measurement needs.

How Best to Select Torque Test Stand

How Best to Select Torque Test Stand

There are two major types: motorized and manual. The commonality is the compact size and thus can be used for torque test on a desktop in any location. The model of the corresponding torque stand differs depending on the torque tester used.

Manual type does not operate by battery and is less expensive than motorized ones. Compared to handheld measurement, it reduces shake of manual operation and improve measurement repeatability.

- For Screw Cap Torque Tester DTXS/DTXA series
The manual rotation support jig, which fixes the sample and rotates with a knob, enables continuous rotation beyond the operating range of hand-turning.

- For handheld digital torque meter HTGS/HTGA
A simple sensor holder to fix only the sensor and rotate the sample handheld, or a rotation support jig to fix the sensor and sample and rotate with a knob are available. Fixing the sensor increases the stability of measurement, for example, when measuring a small sample.

Some stands can also be equipped with an angle meter, allowing analysis of the torque-angle correlation even though it is a manual.

Motorized rotates automatically at a digitally preset speed to achieve even higher measurement repeatability than manual ones.

The use of control function that sets a specific torque value and number of turns to automate the process enables durability tests, and data management and analysis can be performed in conjunction with software to expand the measurement. Other models can analyze the correlation between torque and angle using an angle meter.

Torque value, stand height and width are also important considerations.

Selecting a torque stand with capacity greater than the expected torque value for the torque test will ensure accurate and safe measurements. Besides size of the sample, it is also necessary to determine the height of the stand, taking into consideration not only the size of the sample itself, but also the amount of stroke when there are parts that move during the test, such as the lid opening, or when vertical (back and forth) movement occurs as the sample rotates, and the work space required when installing the sample.

Conforming to various standards is other consideration. We offer product selection services. Contact us .

How Best to Mount Torque Tester to Torque Test Stand

By combining a torque tester or attachment with a torque test stand, a more precise measurement can be achieved. Although the method of attaching a torque tester to a torque stand differs depending on the model, the procedure is simple and mainly consists of one of the three ways.

1) Fix screw cap torque tester DTXS/DTXA series
Remove the screw from the handle and attach it to the torque stand using the screw hole. For motorized torque stand, a centering jig is included to allow easy centering and installation for more accurate measurement.

2) Fix handheld digital torque meter HTGS/HTGA
Fix the sensor part to the sensor holder part with screws.

3) Fix the measurement sample
Use the attachment to fix the measurement sample. It is either inserting the attachment and fixing it with a pin, aligning the grooves of the attachment and inserting it, or fixing it with a set screw.

Torque stand and torque tester can be connected by a cable. Finally, fix the sample and set up the stand as necessary for testing. These installation procedures are simple and can be easily performed by one person.

Tips for more skillful use of Torque Test Stand

Tips for more skillful use of Torque Test Stand

Motorized torque stand features various functions. It can be operated according to rotation speed settings and preset torque values, and torque test can be performed in auto mode. The timer and counter functions are also inclusive, and a range of functions help improve measurement efficiency and materialize your measurements needs.

A test can be repeated by a number of preset times when the upper limit value is reached, the unit holds the value for a preset time and starts reverse rotation and also when the lower limit value is reached, the unit holds the value for a preset time and then returns.

Overload prevention and automatic stop at a set torque value improve measurement safety and work efficiency.

By connecting with optional software, automatic recording and graphing of torque value changes can be conducted, and analysis and reporting become easy.

By using optional and dedicated units, not only torque values but also angles can be measured, and the correlation between torque and angle can be analyzed, making this a complete torque tester.

We provide a guide of our products, including the videos showing various function settings and consultation on the effective use of torque stands. Contact us.
