Cable Crimp Terminals Tension Strength Test(Complies with the corresponding part of IEC 60512-16-4: 2008 and JIS C2805: 2010)

There are 2 ways to measure the tension strength of crimped terminals, durability test and break test. The break test complying with the coresponding part of IEC 60512-16-4: 2008 requires you to determine the maximum force value when the terminal is pulled off. On the other hand, the durability test complying with the coresponding part of JIS C2805: 2010 requires you to pull the crimped terminal continuously at a certain force for 10 seconds, and check the connector part situation after the test. They are used for R&D and quality control.

Standards

  • IEC 60512-16-4 (2008) [Connectors for electronic equipment-Tests and measurement-Part 16-4: Mechanical tests on contacts and terminations-Test 16d: Tensile strength (crimped connections)] (corresponding part only)
  • JIS C2805 (2010) [Crimp-type terminal lugs for copper conductors] (corresponding part only)

  • ZTS series force gauge is recommended in this test.
  • A dedicated tester ACT-1000N is recommended when testing a large number of crimp terminals to increase efficiency.
  • This video shows the testing image of objective sample. Some samples may not be suitable to measure with this configuration depending on their materials or shapes.
